Red Devils give Miller
win over alma mater

Home will be a sweeter place to visit now for Wes Miller.
The South Fulton High School boys’ coach beat his alma mater, Graves County, 63-50 Thursday night.
Jordan Davis had 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Red Devils (9-10). Kyle Clouse finished with 15 points and six boards, while KeShawn McManus had a solid effort with 12 points and six rebounds.
SF held a narrow 34-31 lead at the half and then outscored the visiting Eagles (11-9) 29-19 over the final two periods.
Both the Redmen and the South Fulton girls will be back in action tonight with a home District 14A doubleheader against Bradford.

LR boys move on
in Area 5 tourney

One Obion County junior high team is moving on.
Lake Road held off Hillcrest 41-37 in boys’ action to advance in the TMSAA Area 5 middle school basketball tournament Thursday night at Martin.
In the night’s girls’ game, Martin shut out Ridgemont in the first quarter on the way to a 40-20 win.
Seth Clouse scored a game-high 14 points, eight in the second period, as the Generals built a 33-24 lead after three periods and then warded off the Cougars’ fourth-quarter charge.
Cain Aaron scored eight of his team-best 12 points in the final frame for Hillcrest.
The Lady Panthers were up 11-0 after one quarter and 20-7 at the half in the opening game.
Atitiana Vincent had 14 points, seven in the first quarter, and Erica Batchelor added 13 points for Martin.
Keaton Cooper scored seven points for Ridgemont.
Action continues with four games on Saturday.

Devilettes’ top scorer
out with eye injury

The South Fulton girls lost more than a game on Tuesday night against Union City.
Leading scorer Taleeah Cross (19 ppg) suffered a significant eye injury when struck by an elbow and will be out indefinitely while the significance of such is further evaluated, according to head coach Curt Lee.
Cross finished Tues-day’s contest despite the injury and ended up with game-high 24 points — 11 in the fourth quarter — of the Devilettes’ 49-42 loss that dropped SF (13-6, 6-3) out of a tie for second place and into third in the District 14A standings.
