TAKE THIS ROAD – Dresden Quarterback Club president Debbie Moran (left) presented former Lions’ high school football head coach Scott Hewett (right) a replica of a street sign Saturday night at the 2011 team’s awards banquet. In what was also a tribute to Hewett’s long service to the football program and the school, many former and current players shared their memories of Hewett, who played college football at UT Martin and then returned to Weakley County as Dresden’s head coach in 1981. He retired from coaching at the end of this past season, which saw the Lions advance to the Class 2A state championship game. The road leading down to the fieldhouse will now be known as Hewett Drive. Also pictured in the presentation is QB Club member Honey Cantrell.
