Shanks is new president of CBT | Tim Shanks, Commercial Bank and Trust, Union City

Tim Shanks
Union City – Commercial Bank and Trust announced Tim Shanks as the new Obion County community president of the bank’s downtown and Reelfoot Avenue branch in Union City.
Former president, Jack Parker, will remain active on the board of directors and serve as a part-time consultant for the Union City branch.
“I am proud to have served Obion County for more than 40 years and feel confident that Tim will do a wonderful job as community president,” said Parker.
“His dedication to the community and our customers has already been proven over the last several years he has worked for Commercial Bank and Trust.”
Shanks started working for Commercial Bank and Trust as a loan officer at the Mendenhall branch location in Memphis in 2007.
Now as community president, Shanks said he will focus on showcasing the advantages of working with a local community bank such as dealing with local decision makers not huge corporate guidelines.
Taking cues from today’s business environment, Commercial Bank continues to add innovations to their style of banking that is focused on being easy, accessible and personalized, a press release said.
“I am so thankful to be back in Obion County working in the community where I grew up and call home.” said Shanks.
“I want to thank Jack Parker for setting an example of what a banking leader should be and I am look forward to serving with him as he remains active with our bank and our customer relationships.”
Shanks graduated with a degree in biology from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1989. He currently resides in Union City with his wife, Selle and two children, 17-year-old Joseph and 14-year-old Elizabeth.
He currently serves as vice president and president-elect of the Union City Chamber of Commerce, serves on the board of the Northwest Tennessee Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is active in the Union City Rotary Club.
Commercial Bank and Trust provides full-service banking services including a broad array of checking, savings and retirement programs, money market accounts, mortgages, home equity loans, and agricultural and business loans.
Commercial Bank and Trust was chartered in 1877. The bank has operations in Memphis, Paris, Union City and Jackson, Tenn. The bank has two branches in Union City, one downtown and one on East Reelfoot Avenue. Shanks will be located at 127 South First Street. To contact him, call (731) 884-4205.
