Opening Day, lunch
at Dresden park

Dresden Cal Ripken Baseball will have an Opening Day in the Park on Saturday.
All boys registered with the league will be introduced along with their sponsors.
Each player should be in uniform as team pictures will also be made on this day.
Everyone is invited to come out and support their favorite player. 
In addition, Dresden Cal Ripken Baseball players are selling tickets for a hamburger or hot dog lunch Saturday at Wilson Park (rain or shine).
Tickets are $5 each and include a hamburger, chips and drink.
All proceeds go toward the league to help with funding of this year’s season.

Buddy bass tourney
at Reelfoot Lake

The Reefoot Lake Bass Club’s Buddy Bass Tournament is scheduled for 7 a.m.-3 p.m. April 7 with blastoff at Kirby’s Pockett.
Registration will be 6-7 a.m. with weigh-in at Kirby’s Pocket at 3 p.m.
Entry fee is $80, which includes a $10 big bass fee. Pre-entries, in check or money order, should be sent to Reelfoot Lake Bass Club at P.O. Box 952, Union City, TN, 38281. Pre-registration cut-off is 5 p.m. April 2, and those who pre-register are eligible for a drawing to win a $100 BP gas card.
There is a $1,500 guaranteed payback for the top three places — $700 for first place, $500 for second and $300 for third. The big bass has a 100 percent guaranteed payback (60 percent for first big bass and 40 percent for second).

Pitch, Hit and Run
set for Wilson Park

The Dresden Cal Ripen League will host the local level of the Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition Saturday.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. at Wilson Park.
The skills competion is free and is divided in four age divsions: 7-8, 9-10, 10-12 and 13-14. Competitors will have a chance to advance through four levels, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2012 All-Star Game.
The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, in addition to the all-around champion, in each age group at the local competition will be awarded and advance to the sectional level.
All participants should bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of competition Saturday. For more information, call David Lewellen at 364-2066.

Westview baseball
to play in St. Jude

Westview will play three games in the St. Jude Baseball Classic at Elam Stadium at L.H. Ladd Field in Union City this week.
The Chargers will play McKenzie 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Lake County 4:30 p.m. Friday and Owensboro Catholic 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Westview’s junior varsity team will play twice at Thompson Field.
