Rebels rack up
big soccer win
Obion Central posted its second double-digit goal total in as many days in a 10-1 whipping of visiting Ripley in prep soccer action Tuesday.
The Rebels followed up Monday’s 13-0 thumping of Gibson County with another outburst that netted them their third win in four matches this spring.
Jose Camacho recorded a hat trick for OC, his three goals leading three players who found the net. Eric Torres and Victor Guerrero both scored twice, while Conner Rinker and Alex Terrell also dented the scoring column.
Sammuel Smith had two saves in goal for Central.
The Rebels will play host to county neighbor South Fulton Thursday at 6.
Renshaw steps down
as DC head coach
Dyer County is in the market for a new head football coach after Adam Renshaw resigned to become the new offensive coordinator at Cleveland High School in East Tennessee.
He will join the staff of Ron Crawford, who was named Cleveland’s new head coach recently.
Renshaw spent nine seasons at the Choctaw helm, posting a 43-55 record with five playoff appearances.
His best season was 2007 when he went 10-2, making the second round of the postseason.
DC also made it to Round 2 of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.
No timetable has been given for Dyer County to name Renshaw’s replacement.
Red Devils rally
to kick past Milan
South Fulton scored three second-half goals to erase a 2-0 deficit and beat visiting Milan 3-2 in Tuesday afternoon prep soccer.
Lane Akers, Jalen Sowell and Harris Hawks all scored goals for the Redmen after the intermission.
SF is now 2-1-1 after the victory.
The Red Devils will play at Obion Central Thursday, the match scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Pop’ scramble
slated to begin
Poplar Meadows Country Club kick off its weekly men’s scramble April 4 and will continue each Wednesday throughout the summer.
The scramble, which is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, includes the 9-hole event and dinner afterwards.
It begins at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday and participants are encouraged to call the club by 5:15 each week to sign up. For more information, call 885-3650.

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee has granted a release to backup point guard Wes Washpun, allowing him to transfer to another school.
