Ladies’ golf event
won with 2-under

The team of Wanda Brown, Jo Lynn Gibson, Jaque Lethcoe and Cathy Hall combined to shoot 2-under par and win the first Hickman Country Club Ladies League outing of the season on Thursday.
The combination of Janis Garrigan, Jackie Russell, Dino Nerren and Donna Dunn earned second at even par.
Brown was the closest-to-the-pin on hole No. 8 with a shot of 9-feet, 6-inches.
The ladies play every Thursday evening at 5:30. Those interested in playing are encouraged to call (270) 236-9128.

Mantell keeps order
in main event match

With wrestling legend “Dirty” Dutch Mantell keeping law and order in the squared circle, “The Trendsetter” Jon Michael came out of the ring with the belt.
Michael defeated “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony in a best two-out-of-three falls to win the NWA Mid-South Heavyweight championship in local professional wrestling action Saturday night.
Mantell served as special referee/enforcer for the match and played a role in the outcome when he caught Anthony trying to cheat in the third fall.
That proved to be just the latest incident in a wild night as Bull Bronson, after being counted out in a loss to Naughty By Nature “Rude,” power slammed referee Kelly James and was suspended for 21 days.
Other matches saw The Fabulous Rocker taking a hard-fought match over “The Marvel” Stan Lee, “3G” Eric Wayne getting past Justin “The Juice” Smart, and The EMTs beating Joseph Borne and The Tornado in a tag-team match.
This weekend’s card includes a double main event and lady wrestlers Stacey O’Brien and Rebecca Raze.
The first main event has Jason Jones, World Heavyweight Champion of legend Harley Race’s World League Wrestling, taking on Jeff Strong. Main Event No. 2 pits Wayne against Smart.
Drew Haskins will defend his NWA Southern Heavyweight belt against The Fabulous Rocker, while “Rude,” Jeremiah Plunkett, and tag teams The Submission and LSD will also be in action.
