Soldier statue dedication scheduled near Trimble

Gen. Otho French Strahl Camp 176 based in Union City will host a soldier statue dedication at Parks Cemetery Ridge Confederate Memorial Plaza near Trimble April 28 at 2 p.m.
Susan Baird and Payton Faulkner will be on hand to provide entertainment for the day and recorded Confederate songs by J. Pat Baughman will be played.
Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 323 based in Dresden will present the colors, with Randy Bryant, sergeant-at-arms for that group is charge of the flag ceremony.
Compatriot Bob Nichols of Gen. Otho French Strahl Camp 176 will provide the invocation, while Camp 176 Commander Danny Isbell will offer the welcome. Payton Foster will have the SVC Charge and Billy J. Foster will recognize special guests, including members of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution and Order of Confederate Rose.
The guest speaker will be Kelly Barrow, an educator, writer and historian.
The re-enactment unit 7th Tennessee Dismounted Cavalry Co. B will have the musket salute, while the artillery salute will be performed by Parker’s Crossroads Battery.
Jan Hensley, president of the Order of Confederate Rose, will lay the wreath and Will Thralls of Camp 176 will play “Taps” as the colors are retired.
