Rebels lose twice
to soccer’s ‘Best’

Obion Central dropped a pair of soccer matches in the Best of the West Tournament in Jackson over the weekend, falling to Madison Academic 5-3 and blanked by Northside 2-0.
Eric Torres and Victor Guerrero both scored for the Rebels in the first half vs. Madison to give the county locals a 2-0 lead before the Jackson team scored four unanswered goals.
Guerrero tallied for a second time with 24 minutes remaining, but OC could get no closer.
Samuel Smith had four saves in goal.
Smith had seven saves against a strong Northside team on Saturday as the Indians advanced to the finals of the tournament after shutting out Dyersburg 3-0.
Obion Central (8-4-1) plays its final district game of the regular season at Dyersburg on Tuesday.
Postseason play will be finalized later this week.
