Bronson will pay
wrestling fans’ way

Saturday night, wrestling fans will get a free ride ... and that’s no Bull.
Bull Bronson, suspended for a month from the NWA Warriors of Wrestling card in Union City, will pay all fans’ admission to Saturday night’s matches. The card will include NWA Mid-South heavyweight champion “Trendsetter” Jon Michael, the return of “The Marvel” Stan Lee, “Golden Boy” Greg Anthony, The Tornado, Joseph Bourne and, of course, Bronson.
Bronson returned from his suspension this past weekend and delivered a Bull Bomb on Bourne to win his return match.
When told by local promoter Alvin Minnick that his reinstatement was the result of a fans’ petition, Bronson ripped up the papers, declared that he didn’t need the fans’ help and then chased Minnick from the ring. Those actions prompted Minnick’s decision to make Bronson pay for all fans’ admission this week.
Minnick also reversed the outcome of the match, giving the win to Bourne.
In other action this past Saturday, the tag team of Shawn “Screamer” Reed defeated The Asylum, Robbie Douglas beat Ron Horn in a hard-fought match, Michael knocked off The Fabulous Rocker and “3G” Eric Wayne got the pin on Douglas.

Skyhawks’ Carr
on QB Watch List

Derek Carr, the rising senior quarterback at UT Martin from McKenzie, has been named to the 2012 College Football Performance Award (CFPA) Quarterback Watch List.
Carr passed for 2,482 yards in 2011 and threw 25 touchdown passes. He averaged 225.6 yards per game. He completed 200-of-346 passes.
Carr passed for more than 300 yards three times and for more than 200 yards twice in 2011.

UTM softball player
on academic team

UT Martin’s Leah Taylor was named to the Capital One Academic All-District as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She is the only student-athlete from the Ohio Valley Conference to receive recognition.
The junior outfielder carries a 3.96 grade point average in marketing. Taylor, a native of Brownsville currently leads the league in batting average (.395), runs scored (54) and triples (10).
