Scorecard breaks tie
for Wynridge winners

A scorecard playoff gave the foursome of Norma Kissell, Joyce Bell, Janice Hanna and Sandra Cobb a win in the weekly Wynridge Ladies Scramble on Tuesday.
Second place went to the trio of Jackie Russell, Shirley Campbell and Lee Ann Gant.
The two top teams finished at 4-under.
The women play every Tuesday evening at the Troy course.

Skyhawk women
topped many stats

The UT Martin women’s basketball team won its second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.
In addition to the postseason titles and appearances, the Skyhawks also claimed seven top 10 statistical rankings in the nation. The Skyhawks finished the 2011-12 season ranked first in the nation in scoring offense (80.1 ppg) and assist turnover ratio (1.43).
The team, under the direction of third-year head coach Kevin McMillan, was second in the nation in 3-point field goals per game (10.2); third in 3-point field goal percentage (38.4) and third  in least turnovers  per game (12.3).
The Skyhawks ranked sixth in assists per game (17.7) and 12th in free throw percentage (76.7).
Rising junior Heather Butler finished ranked among the top five in three stat categories. She was second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (3.09); fourth in points per game (23.8); and fifth in 3-point field goals per game (3.09).
Jasmine Newsome, the Ohio Valley Conference’s Player of the Year, also figured in the success. The Millington native was 13th in the nation in assists per game (6.0); and 18th in the nation in points per game (19.6).
Two other players on the 2011-12 Skyhawk team, Jaclissa Haislip (39.4) and Taylor Hall (38.5), ranked 16th and 18th, respectively, in 3-point percentage.
