Church news 6.7.12

VBS set at WM church
Vacation Bible School will be held Monday through June 15 from 9 a.m. to noon daily at Woodland Mills First Baptist Church.
Classes will be offered for children who have completed kindergarten through those who have completed sixth grade. There will not be a nursery.
The theme is Lifeway’s “Amazing Wonders Aviation™: Encountering God’s Awesome Power,” which is centered around Psalm 147:5.
During the week, children will take flight as they tour some of the world’s most marvelous natural wonders and encounter an awesome God and His amazing power while visiting the Worship Rally Hangar, Bible study at Victoria Falls, missions under the Northern Lights, music at the Matterhorn, crafts at the Great Barrier Reef, recreation at the Grand Canyon and snacks at the Paricutin Volcano.
The church’s VBS kickoff will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in the area around the activities building, located behind the main church building. Hamburgers, hot dogs and other refreshments will be served and giant inflatables will be available for everyone’s enjoyment, with those attending asked to bring their lawn chairs.

Food pantry to open
The “One For All” food pantry of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will be open Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. Proof of income and residency are required.

Homecoming slated
Minnick Bible Church will observe Homecoming and Decoration Day Sunday.
Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., worship services will start at 11 a.m. and there will be a church dinner following the morning services.
The Minnick Cemetery Association will meet at 1:30 p.m.

Special speaker coming
Manna Ministries off the Ken-Tenn Highway near Union City will welcome special speaker Joel Estes Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
He was described by a church representative as an annointed man of God with a vision of unity, exposing and breaking down denominal walls proclaiming the gospel of truth.
“You will truly be blessed by the message God has given him for the church,” the spokesman said.

Youth revival set
A youth revival will be held Monday through Wednesday at 7 nightly at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Union City.
Speakers will include minister Rod McLendon of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ on Monday night; Jessie Webb of Brooks Chapel Ministries on Tuesday night; and minister Anthony Marshall of Anointed Church of the Living God on Wednesday night.
Pastor is Ron Smith.

Youth revival slated
True Gospel Baptist Church at 700 Greenwood St. in Union City will host its annual youth revival Friday through Sunday.
The theme will be “Staking a Claim on Our Youth” and the evangelist will be Chris Chaney, who serves under the ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church in San Diego. Song leader will be Robert Taylor Jr.
Services will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Sunday’s services will include Sunday School at 10 a.m., morning worship at 11 and evening worship at 6.
Big give-aways will be held, with a gift of $50 value to be given away in each service. Teenagers could win one of several motorized scooters and smaller children could win McDonald’s gift certificates. Groceries, restaurant gift certificates and two brand new Game Boxes will also be given away. To claim prizes, guests must be present in the service.
Free refreshments will also be provided at every service.

Church hosts bikers
Biker’s Day is set for Sunday at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 880 Beech Chapel Road near Union City.
Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and homemade ice cream will be served at noon.
Everyone is invited, organizers said.
