8-under just enough
for ‘Pop’ winners

Poplar Meadows Country Club held its weekly men’s scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 8-under par.
Members of the winning team included Matt Russell, Robert Huffstutter, Rick Smith, Bruce Culver and Mike Revell.
Finishing in second at 7-under par was the team of Houston Haag, John Hale, Don Lyerly, Rodger Tanner and Barry Reeves; and the team of Adam White, Justin Alexander, Skipper White, Bedford Dunavant and Jimmy White.
The scramble, which is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, includes the 9-hole event and dinner afterward.
It begins at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday and participants are encouraged to call the club by 5:15 each week. For more information, call 885-3650.

Montgomery aces
Wynridge No. 9

Teddy Montgomery carded a one on the No. 9 hole at Wynridge Thursday.
Montgomery used a 5-wood to hit a hole-in-one on the 180-yard hole.
Witnessing the shot were Jerry Grady, Pete Caldwell and Tommy Lovell.

Diving catch pains
Titans’ top pick

NASHVILLE (AP) — Titans’ top draft pick Kendall Wright left practice early Thursday after hurting his shoulder diving for a ball. Tennessee coach Mike Munchak says he expects the No. 20th pick overall to be sore, though the Titans still planned to run tests on the receiver to be sure.
Jake Locker threw the pass and took blame for throwing a bad ball that went inside.
“Always hate to see a guy get injured trying to make a play he made a great effort at it and you just hope it’s nothing too serious,” Locker said.
Wright is the only Titans’ draft pick still unsigned. The receiver from Baylor was not in the locker room after the team’s final organized team activity.
The Titans have their minicamp next week, but Wright may be held out just to make sure he’s ready for training camp.
