After further investigation into a two-vehicle accident, which claimed the life of 24-year-old Braden Hudson last week, state troopers have announced the circumstances leading to the crash are different than what was initially reported.
According to Trooper Clint Todd, along with Sgt. Mike Ford, a Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has performed a two-scale mapping of the crash scene.
The accident took place shortly after midnight June 14. According to the initial fatality report, Hudson was traveling eastbound on Hawkins Road outside of Sharon when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign intersecting Adams Road and struck a Dodge truck driven by 18-year-old Michael Petty. Hudson died in the accident.
Upon further investigation by CIRT, Hudson was apparently traveling south on Adams Road, while Petty was traveling eastbound on Hawkins Road.
According to Todd and the CIRT investigation, Petty failed to stop at the stop sign on Hawkins Road and struck Hudson’s Volkswagon Jetta in the passenger side of the vehicle.
Todd said CIRT also pulled both black boxes from the vehicles, which registers the speeds of the cars. The THP CID also conducted interviews with Petty as a part of the investigation.
Petty and his passenger, 20-year-old Haley Petty, also suffered injuries in the accident.
None of the people involved in the crash were wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. The investigation continues.
