Jimmy Jackson aces
No. 17 at PH course

Jimmy Jackson has served up the latest ace at Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon.
Jackson hit a hole-in-one on the par-3, 150-yard No. 17 hole on Thursday. He used a hybrid club for his ace.
Witnessing the shot were Van Swaim, Donnie Davis, Paul Kelley and Joe Exum.

Skyhawk golf outing
has July 27 date

Registration is currently under way for the UT Martin Skyhawk Club Kick-off Golf Tournament sponsored by Reelfoot Bank.
The four-person scramble is set for July 27 at Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon.
This year’s tournament starts with lunch and registration at 11:30 a.m. The shotgun start is set for 1 p.m., and dinner gets under way at 5:30.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the tournament and for closest to the pin and longest drive. All contestants will be eligible for door prizes ranging from apparel to a Skyhawk golf bag.
The $70 entry fee ($65 if prepaid by July 20) includes greens fee, golf cart, lunch, beverage stations, goody bag and an opportunity to visit with the UT Martin Skyhawk coaches and other members of the athletics department.

BU conducting camp
for young baseballers

Bethel University baseball head coach Rusty Thompson and his staff will be conducting the Bethel Wildcat Baseball camp July 12-13.
The camp will be held at Wildcat Field on the Bethel campus from 1-3:30 p.m. for ages 7-12.
Cost is only $50 for the two days. Each camper will receive a Wildcat Baseball T-shirt. Basic fundamentals include hitting, pitching, fielding and base running.

Summitt will receive
prestigious award

Pat  Summitt, Tenn-essee women’s basketball coach emeritus, will receive the Tigrett Award Nov. 10 in Jackson.
The award, first given in 2006, recognizes a Tennessean for contributions locally, nationally and abroad.
Summitt is the all-time winningest coach in college basketball and won eight NCAA titles. She has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type.
The award will be presented at the 23rd annual West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation’s Charity Gala.
