Address changes needed

Obion County residents who have moved within the county since the last election need to file their change of address with the Obion County Election Commission before July 27 in order to have a hassle-free voting experience on Aug. 2. Administer of elections Leigh Schlager said residents who are already registered to vote in the county can make the address change at the election office in order to have the correct voting location in the computer system for Election Day or they may make the change when they cast their votes during the early voting period at the office from Friday through July 28. Should voters not make their address changes before July 27, they may still call the election office at 885-1901 to find out which precinct they should vote in on Aug. 2 or they will be redirected to the correct precinct should they visit their old precinct on Election Day. Mrs. Schlager said it is state law that the residents cast their votes in the precinct in which they currently reside.
