Rebels to participate
in Paris jamboree
An Obion County high school football team will participate in the 2012 Pepsi Mid-America Football Challenge jamboree Aug. 10 at Henry County High School.
Obion Central will meet Camden 6 p.m. in the second session of the event.
Play will begin at 5 p.m. with Dresden Middle School against Paris Inman.
Westview will meet Lexington at 7 p.m. and Dresden will then play Trenton at 8.
The event will end with the host Patriots playing Milan at 9.
Tickets, good for all five sessions, are $6 and will be sold only at Patriots Stadium on game night. Children ages five and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
UTM fans have times
for ’12 football slate
With the start of fall camp less than a month away, football fans at UT Martin can make plans to follow the Skyhawks.
Game times for all 11 games have been set.
The Skyhawks will open the season with four consecutive 6 p.m. kickoffs. The Skyhawks open the season Sept. 1 at Memphis and then travel to Northern Illinois on Sept. 8.
The home opener is set for Sept. 13, against Southeastern Louisiana at Hardy M. Graham Stadium on campus.
The Skyhawks will open the Ohio Valley Conference schedule on the road at Austin Peay on Sept. 22, before returning home to host perennial OVC power Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 29. Kickoff against EKU is set for 1 p.m.
The Skyhawks return to Graham Stadium Oct. 6 to host Eastern Illinois for homecoming. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
Back-to-back road trips will find the Skyhawks at Murray State on Oct. 13 and Southeast Missouri State on Oct. 20.
After an open date, the Skyhawks will close out the season with two of its last three games at Graham Stadium.
UTM will host Jacksonville State at noon on Nov. 3 and then travel to Tennessee Tech on Nov. 10, before closing out the season against Tennessee State. Kickoff for the regular season finale is set for 2 p.m.
Marshall visits Rupp
to take on Kentucky
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — The Marshall men’s basketball team will play at defending national champion Kentucky next season.
The Dec. 22 contest at Rupp Arena marks the first meeting between the schools since the 2003-04 season.
Kentucky has won all 11 meetings in the series.
It marks the first time Marshall will play a defending men’s national champion since losing at North Carolina in 2009-10.
