Poplar Meadows Country Club held its weekly men’s scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 9-under par.
Members of the winning team, in a scorecard playoff, included Matt Russell, Robert Huffstutter, Bruce Culver, Rick Smith and Bedford Dunavant.
Finishing in second was the team of Jim Baker, Bryan Ferguson, Jason Mayfield, Houston Haag and Tiger Haag.
The scramble, which is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, includes the 9-hole event and dinner afterward.
It begins at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday and participants are encouraged to call the club by 5:15 each week. For more information, call 885-3650.

Memphis, Ole Miss
set to play again

MEMPHIS (AP) — Memphis and Mississippi have agreed to revive their football rivalry starting with a four-year series starting in 2014.
The teams began playing in 1921 and played 59 games before the series ended after the 2009 season. Memphis athletic director Tom Bowen and Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork announced the new contract Wednesday in a joint statement.
The athletic directors also say they have agreed to start formal talks about continuing the basketball series between the universities along with other sports.
Bowen says the rivalry is a great fit for both teams with both universities so close to each other.
Ole Miss leads the series 47-10-2.

Chattanooga picks
interim director

CHATTANOOGA (AP) — Chattanooga has named Laura Herron as interim athletic director while university officials look for a replacement after Rick Hart left for the same job at SMU.
Chancellor Dr. Roger Brown made the announcement Monday and said they hope to fill the position by the start of football season.
Herron currently is a senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Chattanooga heading into her 19th season at the university. She will return to those jobs once a new athletic director is ready to take over. She oversees the compliance office at Chattanooga, administers five sports and oversees student-athlete welfare.
She started at Chattanooga as an assistant athletic trainer in 1994 and also worked at Florida Southern. She worked with USA Softball between 1999 and 2003 as athletic trainer.
