Skyhawk golfer
wins at Clarksville

Graham Sleigh is tuning up for his senior golf season at UT Martin in his own ‘back yard.’ Sleigh fired a three-under par 68 recently at Swan Lake Golf course to defend his Clarksville City Amateur title, winning by two shots over first-round leader Greg Guinn.
Sleigh, who calls Clarksville home, shot under par rounds for all three days in the City Amateur (68-68-69—205).
The second round of the Clarksville City Amateur Golf Championship was played at Cole Park Golf Course, while the first round of the tournament was played at Clarksville Country Club.
Tyler Guy, who will be Sleigh’s teammate in the fall at UTM, shot a 5-under 66 in the third round, to finish third in the City Am.

Duck blind draw
set for Saturday

The 2012 edition of Tennessee’s long-standing tradition of hand-drawn duck blind drawings will be held at the regular sites across the state on Saturday.
Registration will be held 7-10 a.m. and the drawings will begin at 10 a.m. at most locations. For more information, visit the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website, www.tnwildlife.org.
While hand drawings will be held for the majority of the locations, a computerized drawing system for blind sites on Bogota and Thorny Cypress Wildlife Management Areas in Dyer County and the four units on the Chickamauga WMA (Candies Creek, Johnson Bottoms, Rogers Creek, and Yellow Creek) will again be conducted for this season.
The application period is Sept. 5-Oct. 10 for these areas.

Annual golf outing
helps fight cancer

Entry fee is $300 per four-person team or $75 per person.
There are also hole, tee, birdie and eagle sponsorships available.
In addition, the 18th hole has been dedicated to both cancer survivors and those who lost their battle with the disease for $25 per name.
