SF teams fare well
in prep golf opener

The South Fulton boys’ and girls’ golf teams opened their 2012 season Monday afternoon, participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Brotherhood Tournament at Jackson Country Club.
The Red Devil boys finished in the top half of the 13-team field, coming in with a collective score of 357.
Eighth-grader Justin Johns shot a team-best 82 for SF.
David Brundige fired an 86, Nick Daugherty came in with a 90 and Harrison Hawks shot 99.
Milan won first place in the event with a 313 total.
The Devilettes were second among five teams with a 188 total.
Milan shot 163 to place first.
Mackenzie Pane’s 92 was South Fulton’s best score, while teammate Sydney Easterwood shot 96.
SF’s next match will be Aug. 16 vs. Trenton at the Fulton Country Club.

Obion Central selling
grid season tickets

Season tickets for Obion County Central’s coming football season will go on sale at the school Thursday.
Previous season ticket holders may purchase their seasons starting Thursday and through Aug. 14 during regular school hours.
Beginning Aug. 15, tickets will go on sale to the general public.
The cost of the season tickets is $25.
Rebel home games this season include Ripley, Westview, Gibson County, Montgomery Central and Haywood.

Hickman club hosts
annual links outing

The annual ‘Thorns and Roses’ golf tournament at Hickman Country Club is set for Sept. 8 and 9.
Tee times are available at both 8 a.m., and 1:30 p.m.
The entry fee is $100 per couple with flights and prize money to be determined by the number of particpants.
Dinner with dessert will be served Saturday night.
Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs will be for sale on Sunday.

Samburg the site
of 14U fall baseball

Organizers have plans for a fall baseball league in Samburg.
The league will be for players 14-and-under.
Entire teams or individuals are encouraged to participate, according to organizers.
No fee has yet been set for sign-ups.

UTM now selling
season, Tiger seats

Tickets for UT Mar-tin’s football game at Memphis, against the host Tigers, on Sept. 1 are on sale now at the Skyhawk Ticket Office.
Tickets are $30 each and will be on sale until Aug. 23.
UTM season tickets are also on sale now. Chair seats are $83 each, while bench back seats are $70 and general admission is $45.
The Skyhawks will host five games: Sept. 13 vs. Southeastern Louisiana; Sept. 29 vs. Eastern Kentucky; Oct. 6 vs. Eastern Illinois; Nov. 3 vs. Jacksonville State and Nov. 17 vs. Tennessee State.
