Homecoming set this weekend
Homecoming set this weekend | Weakley County Alumni Association, Weakley County Training School, Miles Chapel Church

Jo Ann Carter and Col. Bob Smith are ready to welcome alumni to Martin and Miles Chapel Church. Ms. Carter tends the flower bed in front of the church.

Alumni of the Weakley County Training School and their families will, once again, gather in Martin to reunite and share memories from the past.
The annual tradition, known locally, as “Homecoming,” kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday at McCabe United Methodist Church, located off of Hyndsver Road in Martin with a free barbecue and concert.
The Authentic Gospel Singers will perform that evening and community members are invited to attend the event.
On Saturday morning at 10, the streets will be filled as alumni hit the parade route for the annual homecoming parade down University Street and through downtown Martin. All participants are asked to decorate your own entry. Parade line up is at 9 in the UTM Skyhawk Stadium parking lot. Immediately following the parade, community members will gather at Weldon Park for an afternoon of fellowship.
On Saturday evening, a reunion banquet is planned on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus. This year, registration is from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and the banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the University of Tennessee at Martin Central Ballroom. Everyone is being asked to get tickets by mail or reserve early. All tickets, including children, are $25, but if people choose not to attend the banquet, admission to attend the dance is only $5. For those who attend the banquet, then the admission to the dance is included in the ticket price.
Make checks or money orders payable to: Weakley County Alumni Association, PO Box 32, Martin, TN 38237.
