The following news was received too late to appear on Thursday’s Religion Page. Reelfoot Baptist Church, located at 1926 West Highway 22 near Troy, will be hosting 2012 Jubilee Saturday as a time of rejoicing, renewal and turning to the way God intended things to be. A great day of music, fellowship, food and focus on God’s word is planned. All local pastors have a special invitation to attend, along with their congregations. Members of the church will be “servants for the day” at this day-long event and will provide breakfast, lunch and supper. Those attending will also be fed the Bread of Life through singing and preaching. “It is our desire that those attending will leave rested, rejuvenated and fertile — ready to produce more fruit than ever before; that if there is any part of a life that has come under the ownership of the person, it will be returned to God’s control; that people will be free from bondage in their lives; and that all will depart with a renewed sense that all debts have been paid in full,” a spokesman said. The Year of Jubilee was a special time in the Old Testament when the land was allowed to lie fallow, property was returned to its original owner, slaves were freed and debts were remitted. The Rev. Scott Fields and the congregation invite the community to attend. For more information, call 885-2170 or go to www.reelfootbaptist.com.
