Church news 8.23.12

Revival to begin
Revival services at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, located at 5134 Virgin Road off Shady Grove Road northeast of Union City, will begin Sunday, with the Rev. Judd Mowery of Troy United Methodist Church as the evangelist.
The service will be at 6 p.m. and there will be a time of fellowship with finger foods following. The revival will continue through Wednesday, with weeknight services at 7 and refreshments following the time of worship on Wednesday night.
Jane Moore will be pianist and Buddy and Catherine Roberts will be song leaders.
The Rev. Caroline Farmer and the congregation invite the community to attend.

To host revival
Revival services led by evangelist and missionary to Africa the Rev. J.R. Gould of Nashville are planned for Sunday through Wednesday at Star of Bethlehem Assembly of God at 3141 Marvin Vaught Road near Troy.
The Rev. Tommy Roper and the congregation invite the community to join them at 5 p.m. Sunday and at 7 weeknights.

Dildines to sing
The Dildines will sing at Dresden Pentecostal Church 7 p.m. Sept. 8. First United Pentecostal Choir will also be featured. The public is invited to attend.

Revival slated
A revival is slated for Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. with Sunday school, continuing through morning worship at 11 and evening services at 6 and then into the week, at Mt. Pelia Baptist Church near Martin.
Weeknight services will begin at 7.
The Rev. Lammie  Lammersfeld will be the evangelist.
The Rev. Ben Lownsdale and the congregation invite the community to attend.

Yard sale planned
A fund raiser for Reelfoot Rural Minstries is being sponsored by Mt. Zion United Methodist Church beginning 7 a.m. Saturday.
The sale will be at a home located on the corner of Edwards and Nelson streets in Union City.
The public is invited to support the effort.

Church hosts revival
Pleasant Hill Baptist  Church near Rives will begin revival services Sunday and continue through Wednesday.
Sunday worship is at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m., with weeknight services at 7.
Dr. Brian Robertson will be the evangelist and Don Bailey will be in charge of music.
There will be special music each evening and a nursery will be provided.
The church is located at 688 Sublett Road near Union City.
The community is invited to attend.

Crusade for Christ set
Pastor the Rev. M.L. Easley and the congregation of St. James Baptist Church, located at 512 Troy Road in Obion, invite all to their annual “Crusade for Christ” Sunday.
The 11 a.m. guest speaker will be the Rev. Nicolas Glenn of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Martin and the 3 p.m. guest speaker will be the Rev. Terry Bolden of New Victory Baptist Church in Rutherford.

Homecoming slated
New Hope Free Will Baptist Church will host its annual homecoming Sunday, with special guests the Rev. Al Seward and his congregation from Badgetts Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Rutherford.
Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m., followed by worship at 11 and annual hour at 3 p.m.

Friends, family day set
Brown Chapel AME Church, located at 801 East College St., Union City, invites the public to attend annual Friends and Family Day on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Quinton Smith of Historic First Baptist Church of Millington.
Dinner will be served immediately after morning services at Casey-Johnson Community Center.
