wins big again

South Fulton improved to 4-0 with an 11-0 romp over Ripley in girls’ prep soccer play Monday afternoon.
Desiray Sturgeon continued her strong early-season play with four more goals for the Devilettes. Samantha Murray added a hat trick, while Lexi Johnson also found the net twice.
Goals by Sara Reams and Mikaela Hardy rounded out the scoring for SF, which led 7-0 at halftime.

SF will next play Thursday at Trenton.

Trio shoots 5-under
to win at Hickman

The team of Sandra Cobb, Beverly Yates and Wanda Brown combined to shoot 5-under-par and win the weekly ladies’ scramble at Hickman Country Club on Thursday.
One shot back and in second place was the trio of Janis Garrigan, Jackie Russell and Liz Roberts.
Roberts was the closest-to-the-pin on hole No. 8, leaving her shot just six-feet, four-inches from the cup.

Obion Central placed second — ahead of Greenfield and behind Trenton — in a three-way golf match Monday at Pinecrest in Dyer.
The Rebels posted a 194 to beat the ’Jackets by two strokes, and trail Peabody by 10.
Klayton Hagen and Cameron Green both shot 47s for OC. Korben Hagen came in with a 49, while Ryan Middlebrooks fired a 51.
Central bested G’field in the girls’ competition, 97-121.
Ashlyn Runions was the medalist for the Lady Rebs with a 47 with Samantha Wallace shooting 50.

SF boys’ linksters

Eighth-grader Justin Johns shot an even-par 36 to earn medalist honors for SF. Nick Daugherty fired a 38, David Brundige a 39 and Easton Wolf a 40 for the winners.
In girls’ play, Mac-kenzie Pane shot 40 and teammate Sydney Easterwood 43 for South Fulton, who was the only school to field a complete team.
