Slim margins end unbeaten runs for SF, OC
Slim margins end unbeaten runs for SF, OC | Slim margins end unbeaten runs for SF, OC

A pair of one-goal losses ended South Fulton’s and Obion Central’s unbeaten runs.
Covington and Dyer County handed the two Obion County soccer entries their first losses of the 2012 campaign Tuesday, the Lady Chargers edging SF 3-2 and DC blanking the Rebel girls 1-0.
South Fulton is now 4-1, while Central is 3-1.
The following is a recap of those games.
Covington 3, SF 2
The Lady Chargers handed South Fulton its first loss of the year, rallying in the second half with all three of their goals.
SF took a 1-0 lead at intermission when Lexi Johnson found the net on an unassisted play and then equaled that total in the second half.
Desiray Sturgeon scored for the Red Devilettes after the intermission. Johnson also assisted on Sturgeon’s goal.
Taleeah Cross had 16 keeper saves, while Mikaela Hardy had four blocks, Linda Kaye Dickerson had three blocks and Natalie Adams had a block.
“I thought we gave up the last five minutes of the game and the team agreed,” first-year South Fulton coach Emily Belote said afterward. “We just need to stick to it. I told them the game is not over until the referee blows the whistle. We had some team errors that hurt, but we will learn from our mistakes and improve.
“I did think that Natalie Adams played as hard as she could for the entire game. And I thought we gave great effort until the end.”
SF next plays Dyersburg, at home on Monday.
Dyer Co. 1, OC 0
The Lady Rebels dominated the majority of the action, but couldn’t find the net.
Head coach Daniel Johnston said, “We controlled the ball 65-70 percent of the time.”
DC could manage but two shots on goal and scored on one of those.
Taylor Baker had a save on the other attempt.
“We played hard; we just could not finish,” Johnson added.
Obion Central plays at Dyersburg on Monday.
