Devilettes, UC’s Stone Wingfoot’s top golfers

The South Fulton girls’ golf team and Union City’s Mollie Stone walked away with championships in the annual Wingfoot Classic Thursday.
The Devilettes posted a team total of 179 to outdistance six other girls’ squads, while Stone’s 84 was the best individual score recorded in the event.
UC was third in team play with a 193.
On the boys’ side, McKenzie edged Henry County by two strokes, with South Fulton third — another shot back — in the 15-team competition.
Mackenzie Pane shot 87 and Sydney Easterwood 92 to pace the SF girls.
Cailee Sinclair shot 109 to team with Stone’s 84 for Union City’s tourney-best total.
Carlisle County was second, seven shots behind the Devilettes. The Comets’ Jenna Babb shot 86 to place second in the individual scores behind Stone.
Obion County Central was represented by Ashlyn Runions, who came in with a 103 as an individual participant.
The boys’ competition was tightly bunched at the top with South Fulton narrowly missing out on the top prize.
Harrison Hawks’ topped the Red Devils’ scorecard with a 79. Eighth-grader Justin Johns shot 80, Nick Daugherty an 83 and David Brundige an 84.
Obion Central posted a 355 total.
Ryan Middlebrook had the Rebels’ best finish with an 83. Korbin Hagen shot 86, Cameron Green an 89 and Klayton Hagen a 97.
Union City finished at 382. Cruz Kepner was solid, carding an 85, Luke Searcy shot 98, Clay Treece had a 99 and Chase Treece came in with a 102.
Tourney champ McKenzie also had the medalist for the event with Kegan Riley firing a one-under par 71.
Westview’s Houston Haag and Ethan Temple of Trenton both shot 73 to tie for second before Temple won a one-hole playoff for runnerup honors.
