Powder puff football
slated for Central

Obion County Cen-tral’s HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) will be hosting its fifth annual powder puff football game tonight at 6 at Rebel Field.
All four high school classes will battle for the 2012 championship, with the winner of that competition to play the OCCHS alumni team, consisting of ladies from the Class of 1989 until last year.
A cheer team from each grade made up of guys will compete for the cheer championship.
Admission will be $5 and concessions will be provided.
The activities are annually part of homecoming week with OC scheduled to host Gibson County Friday night in the prep football game.

Title game floor
in UK locker room

LEXINGTON (AP) — Kentucky’s men’s basketball team, the 2012 NCAA champion, has a new floor for its renovated locker rooms — the center circle from the Superdome floor where the Wildcats won it all last spring.
Various parts of the floor will be used for decorations, but the Lex-ington Herald-Leader  reports about half of it will be divided into pieces, signed by coach John Calipari and auctioned to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
Northwestern Mutual purchased the floor and donated it to UK. It arrived on Wednesday.
Dan Rivers of Northwestern Mutual says the auction could raise as much as $1 million.
