Lions among teams
at Tennessee Classic

Dresden finished 18th in the boys’ event and 21st in the girls’ run of the 36th annual Junior Ward Tennessee Classic Cross Country Meet, held Saturday in Nashville.
The Lions posted 453 points with a total time of 1:53:56.30. Dresden’s girls, meanwhile, had 531 points and totaled a 2:19:33.37 in time.
The Dresden boys finished within 11 spots of each other in the upper third of the 189-man field.
Austin Maxey led his squad by finishing 40th overall in a time of 19:16.16. Donovan Davis was 46th in 19:27.11, and Colten Delaney was 51st in a time of 19:35.12.
Jon Goodlow (25:03.76) and Justinian Heatley (30:34.15) rounded out the Lions’ contingent.
Catey Delaney finshed 35th out of 187 runners for the Lady Lions with a time of 22:54.28.
Theresa Minisqureo was 107th with a time of 26:10.97, while Eve Woodson was 125th with a 26:51.55 time.
Alyssa Lilly (32:34.11) and Laura Bell (37:16.74) also checked in for Dresden.

Charger boosters host
tailgate/Gold Out

The Westview Booster Club is hosting a tailgate and Gold Out Night for the Chargers’ football game against Milan Sept. 28 at Graham Stadium.
The event is slated for 4:30-6:30 p.m.
The $5 cost includes a hamburger or hot dog, chips, desert and a drink.
Those interested in participating can contact any Westview athlete for tickets. Tickets can also be purchased at the tailgate.

UT Martin runners
compete at Vandy

The UT Martin cross country teams were part of a field of 75 teams competing in the stacked Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday at Percy Ward Park.
On the men’s side, Tallon Scott paced the Skyhawks with a final time of 28:52.05 in the 8K run Gold division.
Following closely behind was Justin Morgan (28:54.24).
The Skyhawks return to action Sept. 29 when they travel to Memphis to participate in the Rhodes Invite.

Skyhawks successful
on Georgia road trip

UT Martin recorded its second shutout of the season Sunday with a 2-0 triumph against Kennesaw State at the KSU Soccer Stadium.
It marked the fourth career shutout for sophomore goalkeeper Mariah Klenke, who faced 16 shots and corralled six saves for UT Martin (3-4-2), which has not lost since Sept. 7.
Midori Sera came up with her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute, while Saphyra Coombs-James added a big insurance goal in the 65th minute for her third goal in 2012.
Skyhawk sophomore Dominika Conc came up with a clutch goal in the 87th minute for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Georgia State in Atlanta on Saturday.

UTM volleyball club
wins in Bama event

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — UT Martin boasted a season-high .278 attack percentage and generated 49 kills in three sets in a 3-0 volleyball victory Sunday over Alabama State (25-19, 25-15, 25-22).
The Skyhawks are 3-9 on the season.
Sophomore Jackie Harter totaled a career-best 12 kills.
