Marijuana charge levied

A marijuana charge was filed against a Union City man who was arrested for public intoxication Thursday night.
Tyrone L. Watson, 38, of 803 North Morgan St., Union City, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. in the 600 block of East Cheatham Street on charges of public intoxication and simple possession of marijuana, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police had been dispatched to East Cheatham Street on a call of an alleged intoxicated man staggering down the street. Officers located Watson, whom they reported appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and who allegedly admitted to having been drinking.
According to the report, Watson started to become agitated that he was stopped and police patted him down in a search for weapons. Instead, officers found a plastic bag with nine grams of a substance believed to be marijuana.'Published in The Messenger 9.21.12
