Popular Taste of Ken-Tenn event returning to Kiwanis Park Oct. 4
It was one of the most enjoyable of local evenings, according to many of those who attended the kick-off Taste of Ken-Tenn at Kiwanis Park last October.
The fund raiser, which benefited Boys & Girls Club, Masquerade Theatre and Union City’s Main Street organization, was built around delicious treats from several area eateries, wine tasting, danceable music from local talent and the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful autumn evening with friends and neighbors in an adult setting.
The event was so successful organizers decided to repeat it this year, with the same organizations receiving the benefit.
The date to ink in now is Oct. 4 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City. In the event of rain, the fun will be moved to Everett-Stewart Regional Airport near Union City.
Tickets are on sale at the Main Street office or from committee members and are $25 each. Tickets at the door will be $30. Corporate block tickets are being offered at $20 each for a minimum of 10 tickets. To reserve blocks or purchase individual tickets in advance, those interested may also call the Main Street office at 885-8330.
Blind Red Rooster, a local band in touch with the desire of many to enjoy rock and country hits with a golden-oldie flavor, as well as some danceable tunes from more recent times, will be back by popular demand. Their music added a unique and very enjoyable flavor to the good eating and opportunity to socialize that made last year’s “Taste” so popular.
Area restaurants and other vendors will provide a sample taste of their most delicious entrees for all to enjoy.
Restaurants or vendors who have not been contacted and would like to participate may call the Main Street office or Selle Shanks at 446-0132.
An added attraction this year will be a patio set donated by Aloha Pools to be given away to one lucky door prize winner, Mrs. Shanks said.
“Everyone had such a good time last year and we are really looking forward to ‘tasting’ so many good things from right here at home,” she said. “We hope adults will see this as the perfect opportunity to enjoy a beautiful and relaxing evening outdoors that will be filled with good food, music and the opportunity to sample some fine wines.”
