Jolley Springs Baptist Church news

Posted: Thursday, September 27, 2012 6:00 pm
By: By Linda Crawford

Sunday was a beautiful cool fall day at Jolley Springs. We have just noticed that the trees are showing a touch of color in our area.

Bro. Tony Michael used Numbers 20:1-13 for his morning sermon text. In this sermon we learned that when Moses struck the rock it was not just a trickle of water that came out of the rock. There was enough water for the six million people and all of their livestock to drink. Bro. Tony told us that we are to observe and obey the word and be open to God's leadership.

At birthday/anniversary recognition time, we learned that Matthew and Tiffany Tyson Owens have been married for four years. Happy anniversary wishes extended to this couple.

Sunday will be a special day at Jolley Springs. In the morning we will have as guest the puppet ministry from Point Pleasant Church, plus we will have a baptismal service. We will be having a potluck breakfast before Sunday school because it is the fifth Sunday. In the evening Bro. Gary Casey will be preaching.

Bro. Tony and Judy have a new little grandson, who was born Monday. Both mother and son are doing fine.

Our fall revival will be the first week in October, Sunday through Wednesday. Troy Doster will be the speaker. Bro. P.J. Scott, our former pastor, will be the speaker at Hodges Chapel's revival Oct. 14-17.

We are planning a yard sale for Operation Christmas Child on Oct. 20 at the Como Fire Station. Anyone wishing to donate items may contact Linda Crawford or Donna Legens for pickup or bring them very early that morning.

Our crafting group will meet again at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at the home of Sandy McCrary. Items made will be given to missions. You may call Sandy for more information at 782-3317. You do not have to be a part of our church to come and enjoy the fellowship.

A prayer shawl has been made and presented at our church for altar prayer. The shawl is to be given to Linda Carroll, who lives in our community.

Prayers were requested for Paul Crawford, who will have surgery at Jackson-Madison County Hospital Wednesday.

Neil King will also be having surgery.

We were saddened to learn Friday that Gerald Muzzall, a friend and member of our community for many years, had passed away. His funeral was at Williams Funeral Home in Gleason Monday with burial in New Hope Cemetery near Gleason.

A former member of Jolley Springs, Joyce Bryant, passed away Sunday morning. Her funeral was Tuesday with burial in Sunset Cemetery at Dresden.

Crazy Horse Goode, husband of Shara Goode, passed away after a long illness. A memorial service was held in Dresden for him Saturday.
