Camp donated vehicle by compatriot | Gen. Otho French Strahl Camp 176, Sons of Confederate Veterans

The Gen. Otho French Strahl Camp 176, Sons of Confederate Veterans, conducted its monthly meeting recently at the Obion County Museum on Edwards Street in Union City.
The meeting opened with commander Danny Isbell leading the pledge to the U.S. flag and the Sons of Confederate Veterans flag salute. Compatriot Bob Nichols led the opening prayer.
Those in attendance discussed the donation of a military vehicle to the camp by compatriot Ralph Duke. The MV-M37, 1953 Dodge truck is of the Korean War era. Duke had restored the vehicle to about 95 percent of its original state. The camp has been asked to complete the restoration and sell the vehicle to generate funds for the maintenance of the Trimble Parks Cemetery Ridge Confederate Memorial Plaza. Compatriot Dave Faulkner has undertaken the task of completing the restoration. This donation is greatly appreciated by the camp, a spokesman said.
Duke gave a brief history of the use of these vehicles, after which he presented the title to Isbell and adjutant Jimmy Williams.
Members also received an update on the cleaning up of the Chambers-Holman Cemetery across the road from Memorial Gardens. Another work day is needed to complete this project.
The camp is awaiting further information regarding the hosting of a Tennessee Scenic Views display at the Obion County Public Library. There are to be 23 pictures to be displayed of Tennessee views to be preserved for future generation to enjoy. November is the target date for the display.
There were 11 members in attendance.
Nichols closed with prayer.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans is the nation’s largest Southern heritage, history and honor organization open to all male descendants of Confederate soldiers who served honorably in the War for Southern Independence.
