Posted: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 12:00 pm

Dresden Middle School kept its undefeated season alive and won the Reelfoot Conference Thursday night by scoring three touchdowns on its first possessions of the game en route to a 42-14 win over Gleason.
The Lions took full advantage of excellent field position on the opening kickoff with the ball at Gleason’s 34. It took the Lions only three plays to score with Blasé Cashion capping it off with a 27-yard run.
The Bulldogs mounted a 10-play drive that started at their own 30, but it stalled at the Lions’ 35 when Ryan Cole’s halfback pass went incomplete on fourth down. Dresser Winn found Quincey McDonald on the left side three plays for a 65-yard touchdown to make 14-0 after the two-point conversion to end the first quarter.
The Bulldogs were held on four downs, and the Lions scored again four plays later with Cashion setting up Dylan Yate’s five-yard TD run with a 36-yard run.
Dresden stopped Gleason again on four downs when the Bulldogs attempted a fake punt. The Lions were not fooled by the play and dropped the Bulldogs for an 11 yard loss. The Lions took over at the Gleason 23 and Winn connected with Cade Rogers on the first play for a touchdown. The two-point conversion made it 28-0.
Yates recovered a fumble by Cole with 1:48 to play in the second quarter to end Dresden’s scoring and give the Lions a 36-0 cushion at the break.
Dresden made it 42-0 in the third quarter on Ricco Taylor’s two-yard run. The Lions brought in their reserves to play the fourth quarter and the Bulldogs took advantage of that with two touchdowns.
Cole had runs of 28 and 15 yards and then ran one in for a score from 13 yards out. He ended the game with a 61-yard run to make the final score 42-14. Cole ended up with 133 yards on 18 carries. Cashion had three carries for 70 yards for the Lions. Taylor had 30 yards on five touches for Dresden.
The loss ends Gleason’s season with a 1-6 record. The Lions improve to 7-0 and will finish up the season at on Thursday night against Martin. Dresden won the Reelfoot Conference by defeating Gleason and Greenfield, the only other two teams in the conference. Published in The WCP 10.2.12
