Life skills judging team | Obion County 4-H

LIFE SKILLS — Obion County 4-H’ers recently participated in the Western Region 4-H Life Skills Contest.  Teams from West Tennessee gathered to compete in this contest held in Jackson. During the contest, 4-H’ers competed at the following stations: Making Change, Toys for Tots, Food Scene Investigators and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The Obion County 4-H Life Skills team placed second out of eight teams. Participants learned to use the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse and recycle), how to determine the correct change of purchases, identify potentially hazardous foods and to work as a team to solve a problem. Additional benefits of participation come from the development of leadership capabilities and meeting other young people and professionals. The Obion County team included (from left) Allison Willis, Ben Clanton, Carol Ann Clanton, Tanner Nichols, Rizbah Melton, Nathan Melton and Ashlyn Willis.
