| Catfish and Khakis event to benefit county’s children |

Junior Auxiliary of Obion County will be hosting a Catfish and Khakis fund-raising event Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Poplar Meadows Country Club.
The cost is $25 per person and includes a dinner of catfish or grilled chicken with slaw, white beans, hushpuppies, potato wedges and tea, plus live entertainment provided by Avonlea.
Tickets are available at Kizer’s Pharmacy and Dr. Mike Calfee’s office in Union City.
“We welcome everyone to attend this event to benefit the children of Obion County,” a spokesman said.
A silent auction will be held during the event and anyone who wishes to make a donation may drop the item off at Calfee’s office. Monetary donations may be made by sending a check to Junior Auxiliary of Obion County, P.O. Box 853, Union City TN 38281.
Junior Auxiliary is a national non-profit organization that encourages members to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children.
The Obion County Chap-ter was chartered by a group of caring, enthusiastic women in 1977 and continues to grow and thrive throughout Obion County. Volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year on a variety of projects that focus on local children and families in need of assistance.
Junior Auxiliary of Obion County is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA), a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville, Miss. NAJA has more than 13,500 active, associate and life members in 101 chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.
The NAJA slogan is “Care Today — Character Tomorrow” and when teamed with the current focus of the association, Junior Auxiliary chapters are working more than ever before to increase awareness of child health and welfare and how it affects their futures.
