Jolley Springs Baptist Church news

Posted: Thursday, October 11, 2012 6:00 pm
By: By Linda Crawford

Our fall revival has gotten off to a very spiritual start. Our special music was "Precious Memories" and "Mary Did You Know" for the morning service. Bro. Troy Doster, formerly from Dresden, is holding our services Sunday through Wednesday. Bro. Troy and his family now pastor a church and live in a small town about half way between Madisonville and Hopkinsville, Ky.

During the morning service Bro. Troy gave us a definition of a practical atheist. He told us it means someone who believes in God but lives as if he doesn't exist.

That night Randy Mallard sang "The Greatest Love Story Is the Old Rugged Cross."  Randy is very talented and we are always glad to hear him sing. Bro. Troy read from Revelation 3:14-16 and then gave us a definition of a luke warm Christian.

I received an e-mail from Tim Allen saying that he had received and was very grateful for the four boxes of toiletries that our church mailed to him and his co-workers. He said some of the marines he works with needed some of the items so he passed them along.  He requested that we keep praying for them and that this conflict will soon come to a halt.

The Como/Ore Springs Fire Department will have their annual fundraiser Saturday at the Como Station on Hwy 140. A BBQ lunch will start at 11 a.m. with the auction of many new items that have been donated by banks, stores and various businesses starting at 1 p.m. We always get great bargains and have good fellowship at these auctions.

The following Saturday, Jolley Springs will have a yard sale at the Como Fire Station.  All money raised from this sale will go to Operation Christmas Child. All donations are welcome and can be brought to the station Friday night or early Saturday. You may also call Linda Crawford at 364-3355 or Donna Legens at 364-5494 if you would like to donate but have no way of getting it to us, we will come and pick it up.

Paul Crawford is home and improving following surgery at Jackson-Madison County Hospital recently.

Please remember Mack Jones and Janie in your prayers. He is seeing his doctors in Memphis.

Lacy Phifer, daughter of Luke and Jennifer Crawford and Tony Phifer is having surgery at Vanderbilt.

There will be a women's prayer retreat Friday and Saturday at Camp Williamson in Median. If you are interested in going contact Pam Warman.
