Palmersville Baptist Church news

Posted: Thursday, October 11, 2012 6:00 pm
By: By Charlene Harris

Five of us went Tuesday to the backpack ministry at First Baptist in Dresden.

On Wednesday Robert Baker led the congregation in singing, "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus." Our Bible study was from 2 Timothy 2:11-3:17.

Saturday, we enjoyed being at the Stow family reunion. We had the largest group ever of 57. One family traveled the fartherest from Lansing, MI. Our family had the most generations there. It was good to see everyone, especially my former pastor, Dr. Gerald Stow and his family from Cookville. Time seemed to fly by. The next meeting will be in 2014. We appreciate Denise Boane and her husband for all they do.

On this Lord's Day, we had a good attendance of 59 for Sunday school. Our lesson was from John 4:1-42, "From Failure to Salvation." Our lesson was about all of us fail but change begins when we trust Christ to save us.

We express sympathy to those who have lost loved ones this week. Happy Birthday this week to Adrianna Pope. Kerry Harris closed our the Sunday school hour and Joe David Laws led the congregation in singing, "Heaven Came Down," "Heavenly Sunlight," "More About Jesus" and "Soon and Very Soon." Amy Cox then signed to, "I Can Only Imagine." She did a great job.

Bro. Kieth's text was from Jeremiah 17:7, Colossians 1:23 and John 15:5 He talked about "Yielding Fruit for the Kingdom." We had a good attendance of 72 for worship.

That evening, "I Feel Like Traveling On," "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" and "The Haven of Rest" were sung by the congregation. Charlene Harris sang, "I Can't Even Walk." Dawn Dyer sang "Daddy's Hands.” Robert Baker sang "Me and God."

Bro. Kieth talked about the things that will be happening at the end of time, from 2 Peter 3:8-13. He also made references to Hebrews 11:6 and Revelation 21:8. This will be a glorious time for those who are Christians but a sad and scary time for those who are not. Please read these verses. You do have a choice to not to go to hell but to heaven. It was a good day.

Sunday is World Hunger Day. We are asked to bring at least one can of food each.
