BREAKING NEWS: Woman stabbed, suspect sought

BULLETIN: A suspect, Willie Walker III, 25, of Greenfield, was arrested later Friday and is being held in Weakley County on charges there. He is scheduled to be returned to Obion County to face charges that include attempted first-degree murder in connection with the Union City stabbing incident, authorities said.

A Union City woman was seriously injured in a stabbing Thursday night and police are searching for a suspect today.
Christina Jimerson, 27, was airlifted to Regional Medical Center (the Med) in Memphis, where she was in critical condition at last report and was undergoing surgery, Union City police said.
The incident occurred about 8:43 p.m. Thursday at 611 North Division St. in Union City, where police responded after 911 received a call from a neighbor who heard screaming coming from the residence, according to acting Union City Police Chief Perry Barfield.
When Union City police officers arrived, they could hear a woman screaming that she had been stabbed. Officers forced their way into the home, where they found Ms. Jimerson bleeding from apparent stab wounds.
Barfield said neighbors also witnessed an uniden-tified black man run from the apartment before officers arrived. They reportedly saw the man get into Ms. Jimerson’s silver 1997 Toyota and leave the scene.
Police alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the vehicle, which was recovered early this morning in Greenfield in Weakley County. No suspect was located, however.
The stabbing remains under investigation today, according to Barfield, who said anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is urged to call the police department at 885-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (8477). Tips may also be reported to Crime Stoppers by email at ucpd@ci.unioncity.tn.us.
Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and could earn rewards for tips which solve cases.
