for Skyhawk soccer

The UT Martin soccer team generated its third straight shutout of an Ohio Valley Conference opponent while leading scorer Saphyra Coombs-James found the back of the net in the ninth minute to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 victory over Belmont on Sunday.
UT Martin (9-5-3, 6-1-1 OVC) now carries a three-point advantage in the league standings over Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay heading into the final weekend of regular-season play.
Coombs-James’ goal occurred at the 8:02 mark and was the eighth of the season for the freshman.
Mariah Klenke played all 90 minutes and made a pair of saves to keep the advantage in UTM’s favor.

Elswick tops digs list
in UT Martin setback

Senior libero Kasey Elswick compiled a match-high 13 digs, eclipsing the all-time Ohio Valley Conference career digs mark, but UT Martin dropped a 3-0 decision to league-leader Morehead State (17-25, 13-25, 18-25) Saturday at Wetherby Gym.
Elswick reached the milestone in the second set. She now boasts 2,458 career digs, passing the mark set by Eastern Kentucky’s Brittany Nobilio (2,454).
On Friday, UTM struggled at Eastern Kentucky, falling 3-0 (20-25, 12-25, 10-25).
Emily Keaton led the Skyhawks in kills for the fourth straight match, slamming down seven kills to go along with a .227 attack percentage in 22 attempts.
Crask tallied 16 assists while Elswick’s 13 digs were a team-high.
