Our facility is starting to take on a spooky appearance just in time for Halloween.  Our residents will be able to participate in a costume contest on Halloween morning so we encourage family members to bring in costumes for those wanting to participate or let the staff know to assist.
The facility’s Relay for Life team will be hosting a special party on Tuesday night that promises to be lots of fun.  We hope to have family and friends of the facility out to help us celebrate.
If you have any questions about our Halloween festivities, please give us a call at 364-3158.
This week’s cover card winners were Sue Bailey, Mildred Turner, Barry Flowers, Jerrie Benderman, Mag Yeargin and Linda Turner.  Each of these lucky players received a dollar for completing their entire cards first.
For Thursday’s one-line Bingo, each of the participants received a prize from Aegis Therapy.  They all loved receiving their deluxe zipper pouches.   We continue to have such wonderful help during our Bingo games from peer residents, employees and family members.  Thank you all for assisting.
The residents participated in four other games this week.  Blanche Bullock was the winner of our hockey game scoring 8 goals.  Her runner up was Mildred Turner with 6 goals.  Mildred Turner came back to be the big winner of giant tic-tac-toe toss with five completions.
The doughnut toss was a lot of fun and a yummy experience.  A four-way tie went unbroken so everyone was a winner and received powdered doughnuts after the game.
Mind Benders was held on Wednesday morning.  This activity is trivia based and wonderful mental workout.
This month’s arts and crafts session was held on Friday morning.
The residents made wooden Halloween necklaces and they turned out beautifully.  Everyone did a great job.
Food played a starring role in this week’s activity schedule.
For Monday’s coffee break, the residents enjoyed an orange mandarin and cranberry pound cake with their coffee.
They also spent time playing cards and visiting with each other.  Popcorn and a movie was a delicious hit on Wednesday.  The fresh popped goodness was a tasty accompaniment to “Hocus Pocus.”
We finished it all off on Friday with a social hour.   The residents enjoyed socializing with hot chocolate and cookies for refreshments.
Martha Hayes and friends were with us on Friday afternoon for a terrific performance.  Friends of Carmen Kelley provided a wonderful song service on Sunday afternoon.  These two groups always put on a great show and we love having them each month.
The residents are already looking forward to November’s performances.
Bible Union Baptist Church provided our Wednesday evening services.  Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church conducted the Sunday morning services.
These churches are so special to our residents because they continuously bring spectacular worships services week after week to us.
Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us.
