Westview hosting
donkey hoops event

Westview will host donkey basketball Tues-day at Westview High School, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In the Gleason-Martin matchup, riders from Martin include, but are not limited to, JB Suiter, Sean Stephenson, Dan Scates, officer Jason Arant, Andy Sliger, Paige McMillan, Natalie Fuqua, Nate Holmes, Sterling Owens and Bill Fuqua.
Organizations involved are Middle School boys/girls basketball, Westview girls/boys basketball, Westview FFA, Gleason girls/boys basketball
Admission is $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from any of the organizations listed above or at the gate on game night.
There will be four quarters of donkey basketball with other fun games to be included.

Duo leads Jr. Lions
past Yellowjackets

Dresden had two players in double figures in a 59-20 win over Greenfield in middle school boys’ basketball action on Monday.
Dresser Winn scored 17 points, and Brice Williams added 11 points for the Lions.
Dresden led 16-5 after one period and 33-10 at the half. The magin was 49-17 after three periods.
Levi Dees had 13 points for the Yellowjackets.

Season tickets on sale
for UTM basketball

Season basketball tickets for UT Martin are on sale now at the Skyhawk Ticket Office.
The tickets include 23 men and women’s home games and all doubleheaders in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.
Chair seats are $75 each. For more information call Jenny Canary at 731-881-7207.
Individual game tickets are $14 per chair seat and $10 each for general admission.
Fans can check out seats at two free exhibition games before the regular season. The women will host Martin Methodist at 7 p.m. Nov. 1, while the men will host Illinois College at 11 a.m., Nov. 2 in the annual Character Counts game.
The Skyhawk women, two-time OVC champs, open the season at home Nov. 12 against Arkansas State. The Skyhawk men, featuring OVC Freshman of the Year Myles Taylor, open the season Nov. 14 against Fontbonne. Tip-off for both is 7 p.m.
OVC tournament tickets (all sessions) are also on sale for $60 per booklet until Feb. 1.

Case against Racer
will get new judge

MURRAY(AP) — The judge overseeing the case against a Murray State basketball player who pleaded guilty to hitting a couple with his car has recused himself.
The Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/UwUnZa) reports that Murray State player Zaveral “Zay” Jackson was supposed to be sentenced on Monday, but instead Calloway Circuit Judge Dennis Foust continued the hearing until next month so that a special judge could be appointed.
Jackson entered a plea this month to two counts of wanton endangerment.
Foust said he decided to recuse himself after a member of the media questioned him on whether he has a bias in the case. He says he does not, but he wanted to remove any appearance of bias.
