This week’s cover card winners were Mag Yeargin, Linda Turner (2), Mignon Mayo, Joyce Gatewood and Opal Pentecost.  Each of these lucky winners received $1.
At Thursday’s one-line Bingo, each participant left a winner.  This week’s prize selection was Vienna Sausages, V8 Juice and pudding cups.  The residents all enjoyed receiving the tasty treats.  We are so thankful for all the generous help we receive from peer residents, employees and family members during our games.
Our games this week featured Halloween themes.  Bobby Bynum was the winner of the ghouling archery.  He scored 27 points on our ghostly bull’s-eye.  Barry Flowers scored 50 points at the great pumpkin toss for first place.  Linda Turner was the winner of terrifying lawn darts with 90 points.  The cauldron throw was such a close game with multiple tie breakers.  The first place finisher was Ray Crowell, but right behind him was Mag Yeargin.  Only one point separated the two players.
The ladies filled up the activity room on Monday for fingernail painting.  Many of them opted for a spookier design for Halloween.  Beth and Danielle painted Frankenstein monsters, candy corns and spider webs for those that wanted the alternative polishing.
On Tuesday afternoon, the residents meet for spooky cooking club.  They created their very own caramel apple wedges on a stick.  They had toppings including chocolate chips, sprinkles, nuts, praline crackles, coconut flakes and candy to add to their apples.  It was great fun making these treats, but even better to gobble them up.
On Friday, we held a morning social hour.  The residents enjoyed witch’s brew (hot apple cider) and pumpkin spice cookie bars.  It was a nice way to start the day.
The residents had a very special Friday afternoon.  Many of the office staff came down and helped them carve and paint pumpkins for centerpieces in our dining room.  They had a great time and did a wonderful job.  Each one was very unique and added to the festivities of the holiday.
We are so thankful to Holt Family Farms for donating the 15 pumpkins.  It was extremely generous gift and greatly received.
The October prayer breakfast was held on Thursday.  Bro. Virgil Allen led the group in scripture and prayer before the meal.  The dietary department prepared a delicious country ham breakfast with eggs to order, homemade oatmeal, biscuits, red-eye gravy and so much more.  We look forward to this each month.
Bill Brewer and accompaniment was with us on Saturday afternoon.  They always do a wonderful job and we greatly appreciate them sharing their talents with us each month.  Thank you all so much for being so kind.
Bible Union Baptist Church was with us for Wednesday night services.
Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church provided the Sunday morning worship services.
Finishing off the Sunday programs was Adams Chapel Baptist Church.  Each of these groups does a terrific job and we are so blessed to have you each time. You bring so much enjoyment and fulfillment to our residents.
