Charges pending in fatal accident

Charges are pending in a Wednesday night crash which claimed the life of a Union City towing service owner in Weakley County.
David Scarborough, 35, of Woodland Mills died early Thursday at Regional Medical Center (the Med) in Memphis as the result of injuries sustained in an accident on State Highway 22, about four miles north of Martin.
The three-vehicle accident occurred about 10:40 p.m. while Scarborough — who operated a towing and recovery business in Union City — was working to hook his wrecker to a disabled vehicle for towing, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The crash also injured Christopher Farley, 24, a resident of Oxford Street in Martin, whose vehicle allegedly struck Scarborough and the other two vehicles involved.
The THP reported Farley was northbound on Highway 22 in a 1999 Oldsmobile, and a 2001 Jeep was disabled on the northbound emergency shoulder. Scarborough was in the process of hooking his 1993 Ford F350 wrecker to the disabled vehicle for towing when Farley’s vehicle apparently entered the emergency lane and struck the disabled vehicle, Scarborough and the wrecker.
The accident remains under investigation by the THP, with citations and criminal charges pending, according to a report released Thursday afternoon by the Tennessee Department of Safety’s public information officer in Nashville.
The report indicated that neither alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
