Union City 4-H Afterschool Club | Union City Afterschool 4-H Club

SCIENCE LESSON — Union City Afterschool 4-H Club volunteer leader Lonna Kennedy (right) of Union City recently gave a science lesson to members of the club. She showed how fire needs oxygen to burn and how the flames will extinguish when all the oxygen has been replaced with carbon dioxide. The club, which is open to Union City School System students in grades 3-8 and to home-schooled children, meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Obion County Public Library in Union City, except during the months when holidays fall on that day. November is one such month, so the club is scheduled to meet Nov. 15. The contest for the day is public speaking. Winners will compete on the county level. For more information, contact University of Tennessee Extension agent Una Johnson at 885-3742.
