UTM’s Carr adds
to list of awards

UT Martin senior quarterback Derek Carr collected three more national honors after his performance Saturday in the Skyhawks’ 49-47 victory over visiting Jacksonville State.
Carr picked up his second Sports Network FCS Player of the Week selection after throwing for seven touchdowns against Jacksonville State. The senior completed 28-of-43 passes for 402 yards and no interceptions in a 49-47 victory, which kept the Skyhawks in a first-place tie in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Carr finished the contest as the Skyhawks’ all-time leader in total offense (7,767 yards) and third in OVC history for touchdown passes (62) and fifth in career passing yards (7,730).
Carr also was named a College Sporting News National All Star for his effort.
The McKenzie native was also named College Football Performance Award National Quarter-back of the Week and National Performer of the Week.

No. 7 hole aced

Beverly Yates recently aced the seventh hole at Wynridge Greens for a hole-in-one.
Bill Hall, Jimmy Yates and Charlotte Hall were witnesses to the feat at the Troy course.

Skyhawks ranked
in national polls

After 10 weeks of the 2012 football season, UT Martin has landed among the Top 25 in the three Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Polls.
The Skyhawks are No. 20 in one poll, No. 23 in another and No. 24 in the third poll.
UTM is also ranked No. 20 in College Sports Madness Poll, while Ohio Valley Conference foes Tennessee State (No. 19) and Eastern Kentucky (No. 25) are also ranked.
The Skyhawks are ranked No. 23 in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 College Football Poll. OVC foes Eastern Kentucky (No. 22) and Tennessee State (No. 24) are also in the poll.
In the 2012 FCS Coaches Poll, the Skyhawks are ranked No. 24 while Eastern Kentucky is No. 18.
The Skyhawks are 7-2 on the year and 5-1 in the OVC.
The Skyhawks play at Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. and the game can be seen on OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
 
UCMS schedules
fall sports banquet

The Union City Middle School fall sports banquet is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Union City High School Commons Area.
Tickets are $7 and on sale today through Nov. 12 at the middle school office.
Sports to be recognized include football, softball and cheerleading.

Kentucky first stop
for UT Martin soccer

UT Martin will travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Soccer Tournament. The match will take place at the UK Soccer Complex 6 p.m. Friday.
This marks the second straight NCAA Tournament appearance for UTM, which swept both the regular season and OVC Tournament titles this season.
UTM is 13-5-3 and on a seven-game win streak.
