Lady Lions’ total
plenty vs. Martin

Dresden outscored Martin 6-1 in the second quarter and maintained a lead the rest of the way for a 23-20 win in middle school girls’ basketball play on Monday.
Alex Sledd scored nine points, Kasey Gallimore added eight points and Mary Grace Davis contributed five points for the Lady Lions.
Jordyn Greene led all players with 11 points for Martin.
The teams were tied at 5-all after one period, and then Dresden took an 11-6 lead at intermission.
The Lady Lions were up by three at the end of the third quarter, 17-14.
Martin is now 3-2 and hosts Sharon tonight.

Frosh leads UTM
in gulf golf outing

UT Martin shot a three-round 941 in the Arkansas State University Fall Beach Classic at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club at Gulf Shores, Ala.
Vanderbilt won the tournament with a three-round 882, while Murray State and Arkansas-Little Rock tied for second. Both teams turned in three-round scores of 891.
Freshman Tyler Guy led the Skyhawks with a three-round 227. He was tied for 20th in the tournament. He tied UT Martin’s Graham Sleigh who competed in the two-day tournament as an individual.
Sophomore Brendon Caballero shot a 228, while junior Clay Harbin fired a three-round 239. Senior Taylor Deming shot a 250, while John Michael Sisinni shot 252.
The Skyhawks will return to action Feb. 16, when they play in the Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate hosted by Jackson State at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.

Skyhawks to host
annual turkey shoot

The UT Martin rifle team’s annual turkey shoot is set for next week, beginning on Monday through Thursday.
The event will take place each day from 4 to 6 p.m. at the UT Martin Rifle Range in the ROTC Building on campus.
Targets cost only is $2 each or three targets for $5.
Winners will receive a turkey from a local E.W. James grocery store or a pizza from Domino’s. All proceeds will benefit the Skyhawk rifle team.
All members of the public are eligible and are invited to bring a group of friends and turn the annual fundraiser into a competition.
