Palmersville Baptist Church news

On Nov. 7, our opening hymn was "Wonderful Words of Life." After prayer request, we conducted our regular monthly business meeting. We then studied 1 Timothy 3:1, 8-12.

On this Lord's day, we had a good Sunday school lesson titled, "Do Life Together," from Acts 4:32-35, 5:1-11 and 6:1-7. This lesson was about our being intentionally involved in the lives of people around us, especially within the church family.

In the worship hour, our opening hymn was "Wonderful Words of Life." Bro. Kieth made our announcements. Today was our Veteran's Day service. For the offertory hymn, "America the Beautiful" was played. SSG Dennis Phillips led the congregation in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to both the American and Christian Flag. CSM Dewey McClure, SFC Kerry Harris, SGT Larry Moubray and SSG Dennis Phillips folded an American flag while SSG Lisa Capps read what each fold stood for. The music of "Soul of Liberty," was played. Bro. Kieth then asked for each veteran to come to the front for recognition and receive a small flag. While there, E1 Robert Baker dedicated the song, "American Christian" to each of them. This years reciepent of a cased flag was PFC Billy Jordan and his wife, Mary received a red rose. Renita Cantrell and Micki Cunningham sang, "God Bless the USA." Bro. Kieth read the names of each one's name and service connection and where they served. He then talked about our country and those still serving. We appreciate our visitors today.

In the evening, we sang, "Heavenly Sunlight," "I Fell Like Traveling On” and "More About Jesus." Our scripture reading was from Luke 4:21. Bro. Kieth compared 1 John 2:15-17 with Luke 4:1-11. This world has nothing to offer us. Satan will try anything to get us away from Jesus. If he would try to tempt Jesus, we know that he will tempt us.

At the end of the service, Christina Cleek was baptized. We welcome her to our church family.

It was an awesome day.

Sunday at 5 p.m. will be our Thanksgiving service.

We will be meeting Tuesday for our mid-week service. No Wednesday night service.
