Several friends and former classmates visited the First Methodist Church in Humboldt with the family and the funeral of Mrs. Mildred Hearn Shanklin. Some attended the burial at New Hope Cemetery near Latham. She was a former neighbor and classmate of mine.

On Wednesday night, Bro. Larry Clark read Acts 1:12-15 and 4:24 as the  scriptures for a short message before we worked on the shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child.

On Sunday, we had the Veteran’s Day program.  Bro. Larry read two articles, a video was shown, Ted Dyer read two articles, Johnny Henderson read an article, Dave Bradley read some letters, Bro. Larry read an article titled “Veteran to Veteran.” A slide presentation including a song by “The Oak Ridge Boys” was shown. There were several tables of displays of memorabilia along with many uniforms from several wars.

On Sunday night, Bro. Larry read II Timothy 2:3-4 as the scripture text for the

message.

Gary and Phyllis Jenkins was involved in a car wreck Monday near Murray, Ky. Their car was totaled, however, they were not seriously hurt.

We will be having our Thanksgiving service Sunday which will include a meal at noon.  There will be no services on Sunday night.
