DAR Good Citizens | Reelfoot Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution

GOOD CITIZENS HONORED — Reelfoot Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored three local high school students with its annual Good Citizens awards. A tea was held in their honor in the family life center at First Baptist Church in Union City. The students were asked to read their winning essays in the presence of DAR members, family, friends and school officials. Winners included Billie Dee Preuett of Obion County Central High School, Joseph Shanks of Union City High School and Grace Bruner of South Fulton High School. Certificates were awarded by DAR member Josephine Keightley. After the tea, the students were asked to assist in packing a box containing lap robes, coffee, condiments and hard candies for veterans at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt. Among those packing the box were (from left) Martha Kendall, Peggy Drerup, Miss Bruner, Shanks, Beulah Wyatt, Penny Hepler, Mrs. Keightley and Miss Preuett.
