Shorthanded UTM
falls to Lipscomb

Down four starters because of injuries, UT Martin fell 86-62 to Lipscomb at Allen Arena on Saturday.
The Skyhawks (3-7) were led by sophomores Myles Taylor and Khristian Taylor. Myles Taylor scored 14 points in 20 minutes, while Khristian Taylor tallied career-highs of 14 points and six rebounds. Mike Liabo (nine points), Dee Oldham (eight) and BJ McLaughlin (seven) also chipped in to the Skyhawks’ offensive attack.
Martin Smith scored 22 points to lead Lipscomb (4-4), while Deonte Alexander (13 points), John Ross Glover (13) and Stephen Hurt (10) also cracked double-figures for the Bisons.

Canaan, Daniel lead
MSU past Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Isaiah Canaan and Ed Daniel each scored 21 points as Murray State extended its school-record road winning streak to 15 games with an 82-70 victory over Evansville on Saturday.
Canaan had 10 points during a 19-4 run to open the second half, including a 3-pointer with 12:07 remaining that helped the Racers (7-1) rally for a 55-43 lead.
Daniel also had 15 rebounds for Murray State, which won its fourth straight. Stacy Wilson added 18 points and Brandon Garrett had 16.
Evansville (5-4) got 16 points from Ned Cox, 15 from DJ Balentine and 13 from Colt Ryan. Troy Taylor added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Purple Aces.

Portland no match
for ’Cats at Rupp

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin each scored 15 points to help lead Kentucky past Portland 74-46 on Saturday.
Four Wildcats finished in double figures: Poythress, Goodwin, senior Julius Mays (13) and sophomore Kyle Wiltjer (12).
Ryan Nicholas finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds for Portland.
The Pilots (3-6) held court at Rupp Arena early in the first half. But Poythress scored two quick baskets to spark a 16-0 Kentucky run from which the Pilots did not recover.
Freshman center Nerlens Noel suffered a left leg injury and limped around in pregame warm-ups, but he still played 32 minutes in the Wildcats’ win. He finished with seven points, nine rebounds and seven blocks.
