MURFREESBORO (AP) — Middle Tennessee State University will use a $100,000 donation from retired professor Harold L. Baldwin to develop a new photography gallery on its Murfreesboro campus.
The renovated space to be dedicated in the Bragg Mass Communication Building next year will become the new permanent home of the school’s archive that was assembled by Baldwin after he created MTSU’s photography program in the 1960s.
The collection features prints from famed photographers like Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, Sally Mann and Arthur Fellig, who was best known by his pseudonym of “Weegee.”
The gallery was displaced by renovations in the McWherter Learning Resources Center.
Baldwin taught at MTSU from 1959 until 1991.
